Weighbridge Clerk/Site Checker – Poplars Landfill
Working Pattern: (Part time) 20 hours per week (Monday’s and Tuesday’s)
Salary: £13,276.27 per annum
The main purpose of the Weighbridge/Site Checker is to be responsible for site control duties ensuring the smooth flow of customer vehicles on a busy landfill & ATRF operation, working both unsupervised and under instruction by the site foreman or manager.
The Part time Site checker will be expected to cover sickness & leave periods of the full time Site checker.
Key responsibilities:
• Operate and maintain two 50,000kg weighbridges.
• Ensure site control is maintained, ensuring that contractors and visitors have appropriate inductions and permits, if required.
• To monitor other personnel working at or customers delivering waste at the site to ensure that they are complying with site rules, and to promptly report breaches via the near miss reporting procedure. Site checker also required to carry out hourly roll calls of site personnel and contractors to ensure their safety on site.
• To promptly report customer query/complaints or unexpected problems such as customers on stop, site damage.
• To understand and implement waste duty of care requirements and to carry out load checking procedures and coordinate with customers and operatives any sampling when required.
• To understand relevant items of the site permit via induction and toolbox talks.
Essential criteria for the Weighbridge/Site Checker:
- Previous experience in a busy customer led environment
- IT literate, experience with excel spreadsheets
- Ability to work unsupervised or under instruction
- Able to communicate verbally and can speak and understand English
- Good time keeping is essential
- Must be able to read and understand simple information relating to daily work
- Must be able to write simple but clear reports such as defect reports, near misses
- Ability to remain calm in busy periods
- Must be numerate and able to deal with credit control issues.
