Health & Safety Officer

This key role supports the customer contract by integrating effectively with the onsite team to ensure H&S standards & compliance is achieved and maintained through high levels of employee engagement and a strong health and safety behaviour culture.

Successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain security clearance prior to commencing employment, this includes being able to provide a minimum of 3 years consecutive UK employment/education & residential history.

Day to Day  

• Support and lead the creation and maintenance of Management Plans, Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) 

• Deliver training and record colleague sign off the training – escalate any training gaps. 

• Input, analyse and report all Health, Safety and Environment information to Wincanton and Client systems. 

• Chair, present and update minutes from HSE meetings pursuing closure on actions and escalating where necessary. 

• Manage contractors prior to accessing site, during and on exiting the premises – this would include paperwork, Permit to Works, Defects, equipment suitability and conformity, follow up requirements, inductions, pass control. 

• Be point of contact for all HSE escalations across eDF/Wincanton sites. 

• Liaise and downline HSE business critical updates to all colleagues.  

What will you bring? 

• Experience of working with third party service providers to resolve issues. 

• Computer literate; Microsoft package 

• Ideally experience of working in a logistics role 

• Experience working in a construction environment would be beneficial but not essential 

• ESSENTIAL: NEBOSH General Certificate
• Desirable experience: Incident reporting systems
