We’re looking for someone curious, motivated, and ready to take their first step into the world of HR or as we like to call it People Shared Services. You don’t need any previous HR experience — just a passion for learning and a genuine interest in helping people. We’ll teach you everything you need to know!

What is the opportunity?

This is an 18-month apprenticeship where you’ll work toward becoming a People Shared Services Administrator. You’ll complete the recognised qualification below and learn the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need along the way:

This is fully funded – no cost to you – and combine on-the-job learning with structured training.

What you’ll be doing day-to-day

As a People Shared Service Admin Apprentice, you will learn to be responsible for handling employee records, supporting with payroll and on-boarding activities, assisting with basic administration, and supporting day to day People operations.

You'll be part of a wider team and you will learn how to support various functions around the business including Recruitment, Technology & Payroll.  Your responsibilities will vary from maintaining and managing the various reports to scheduling interviews for upcoming roles, all whilst looking for ways to improve the existing processes.

This vital role ensures that you along with the team are always ‘Making every day better’ for the people at RS.

And don’t worry if some of these tasks sound complicated, that’s totally okay. You’ll receive full training and support from day one.

What we’re looking for

We’re not expecting you to be an expert! This is an entry-level role, so we’re looking for potential, not perfection.

Here’s what will help you succeed:

  • You don’t already have a Level 3 or higher HR qualification
  • You have the right to work and live in the UK and have lived in the EU/EEA for the last 3 years
  • You’re happy to travel to our Corby and occasionally London offices (this is a hybrid role)
  • You’re a good communicator – both in writing and speaking
  • Having good attention to detail
  • Having a second European language would be helpful
  • Strong MS Office, Teams and Excel skills
  • You have an aptitude to learn, curiosity to develop new skills and confidence to find the answers when they don’t know something  
  • Hungry to improve and develop their career in the People team 
  • Obsessed with delivering for the customer and improving their experiences at all points of contact with the People function 
  • Self motivated
  • High level of accuracy and attention to details
