THE OPPORTUNITY – SENIOR HSE ADVISOR

This is a key role for supporting health and safety at Spirit Energy with a strong focus on occupational health. The successful candidate will be required to ensure legal compliance and deliver occupational health plan improvements.


Duration: This is a core contract role. 12-month duration with review for renewal thereafter.

Location: Aberdeen based. Regular offshore travel will be required.

PAYE Contract Rate: To be confirmed

Spirit Energy currently have a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement for all office-based workers.  There are 3 core days that must be worked in the office.  Tuesday and Wednesday are compulsory days and another day of the workers choosing.  The other 2 days can be either worked at home or in the office. 

AND NOW FOR THE TECHNICAL BIT…

In role, you will be accountable for:

  • Providing direct, sustainable, and reliable HSE support, guidance, and challenge to operations, while ensuring robust occupational health and industrial hygiene practices are embedded across operational activities
  • Acting as an ambassador for Spirit Energy’s Life Saving Rules, House Rules, and HSE Expectations. Promoting a proactive HSE culture through site visits and visible leadership.
  • Providing support to operational assets via HSE training, incident investigation, audits, and advice on best practice.
  • Leading and supporting the development, delivery, and monitoring of occupational health and industrial hygiene programmes, including health risk assessments, exposure monitoring (noise, vibration, hazardous substances, ergonomic risk), medical surveillance coordination, and health promotion campaigns.
  • Assisting HSE Manager/Lead in monitoring and reporting HSE performance, identifying trends, and driving improvement initiatives.
  • Supporting regulatory engagement, ensuring compliance with safety, health, and hygiene standards.
  • Ensuring requirements of Safety Cases and health risk assessments are reflected in operational practices and modifications.
  • Reviewing and advising on work packs, risk assessments, and project activities, with a focus on occupational health and hygiene risk controls.
  • Engaging with contractors and supply chain partners to ensure OH/IH and HSE expectations are communicated, understood, and achieved.
  • Providing active monitoring and engagement during contract execution.
  • Ensuring close liaise and interaction with key stakeholder including regulators
  • Managing various HSE compliance database and systems
  • Participating in assurance activities relating to occupational health and wider HSE practices
  • Covering for site based/offshore HSE Advisors as required

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A strong knowledge of occupational health, industrial hygiene, risk management, compliance, and emergency response.
  • Recognised qualifications / demonstrable experience in occupational health/industrial hygiene management
  • Oil and gas experience.
  • Professional membership of a relevant body (IOSH, BOHS, or equivalent).
  • NEBOSH diploma, degree qualified or equivalent
  • BOSIET/MIST/Offshore Medical
