This is an exciting opportunity to join Inspired Thinking Group, an organization experiencing growth and expansion across the UK, EU, and US. We are looking for an experienced Tax Director to lead our tax strategy and operations, enhance tax efficiencies, and support the business in dealing with various fiscal landscapes. As our group's tax environment changes, we need someone who can manage both domestic and international tax matters effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Tax Leadership and Governance:
- Develop and implement tax strategies that align with business objectives, aiming to optimize tax efficiencies across the UK, EU and US.
- Create and maintain governance frameworks to ensure compliance with tax laws in these regions, working with executive and cross-functional teams to address compliance risks.
SAO Compliant Tax Regime Implementation:
- Lead the planning and implementation of a Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) compliant tax regime, preparing the organization for future requirements.
- Establish robust internal controls and reporting structures to ensure compliance with SAO regulations, collaborating with finance and operational teams.
Remedial Actions from Acquisition Due Diligence:
- Oversee the identification and implementation of actions from recent acquisition due diligence processes to ensure tax compliance and strategic alignment with acquired entities.
Management of Key Ongoing Tax Projects:
- Manage important ongoing projects, including Thin Capitalization, Transfer Pricing, Sales and Use Tax compliance, and European Sales Tax compliance, aligning with the group's objectives.
Global Financial Oversight and Tax Reporting:
- Oversee the global year-end tax provision process, ensuring accuracy in current and deferred tax provisioning across the UK, EU, and US.
- Provide oversight on the preparation and review of statutory tax disclosures, understanding tax implications at both group and subsidiary levels.
Executive Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
- Build strong relationships with the Finance and executive teams to analyze tax-related data, supporting corporation tax computations and returns prepared by external advisors.
- Act as the main contact with external tax advisory firms in the UK, EU, and US, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
Owning and Managing Professional Advisor Relationships:
- Build and maintain effective relationships with professional tax advisors, ensuring the highest level of service and strategic support.
Advanced Tax Strategy for Corporate Payments and VAT/GST:
- Guide the computation and forecast of UK Corporation Tax and similar taxes in the EU and US, ensuring compliance and strategic optimization.
- Provide advice on VAT (UK and EU) and Sales & Use Tax (US), integrating these tax implications into financial strategies. Work with the Finance team to improve indirect tax preparation processes.
Innovative Tax Process Optimization and Control:
- Conduct audits and improvements of existing tax processes and controls, focusing on intra-group transactions and international operations. Implement enhancements to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Develop documentation frameworks for tax-related processes and controls applicable across all regions.
Executive Leadership and Talent Development:
- While there is currently no dedicated tax team, there may be plans to hire an additional tax assistant. Collaborating with existing finance teams in the UK, US, and Netherlands will be essential.
- Mentor finance professionals, fostering a learning environment and professional growth.
- Lead initiatives that drive improvements in tax processes, aligning with the needs of a growing global business.
- Proven experience in a tax leadership role within a multinational setting covering UK, EU, and US tax jurisdictions.
- CTA or ACA qualification with relevant international tax experience.
- Strong knowledge and experience in strategic tax planning and international tax regulation.
- Good analytical, strategic, and communication skills, with the ability to work with executive teams across different regions.
- Ability to lead and develop talent within the organisation.
