Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship at Big Creative Academy

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant Apprentice to work closely with our Special Educational Needs Coordinator and Inclusion Manager. In this role, you will provide essential support to students with Education, Health and Care Plans, enabling them to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential. Support may take place within the classroom or in small group/1:1 settings, always under the guidance of teaching staff. 

 

Apprenticeship Overview:

 

  • Salary: £7.55 an hour, Automatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19+ year olds
  • Working Week: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9am to 5pm, Wednesday and Friday, 9am to 2pm
  • Hours: 30 hours per week
  • Duration: 18 months
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant SEND Pathway Apprenticeship standard qualification
  • Online training supported by our dedicated tutor

Become a Teaching Assistant Apprentice at Big Creative Academy and play a key role in supporting students with SEN and Education, Health & Care Plans. You’ll provide tailored 1:1 and small group support, promote independence, monitor progress, and champion inclusion across the Academy. 

 

  • Work under the direction of the SENCo to deliver tailored support and care programmes, ensuring students can fully engage in learning.
  • Encourage independence and inclusion, supporting students across all aspects of Academy life.
  • Provide targeted support on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to help students build confidence and understanding of the curriculum.
  • Monitor attendance, progress, and outcomes for students with EHCPs, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Prepare and collate information to support assessments, reviews, and inspections

 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

 

The successful candidate will obtain a Level 3 SEND Pathway Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification.

Each apprentice will have their own dedicated tutor who will conduct monthly remote tutorials and reviews, providing continuous support throughout the apprenticeship program. Depending on the apprentice’s needs, the frequency of these sessions may vary. 

 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?


Potential full-time employment for the right candidate upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. 

 

Pre-employment checks. Please be aware that upon a successful offer of employment, the company completes digitalised right-to-work checks and DBS applications via an external provider - 'Matrix Screening'. The company also completes an internal online social media search, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.
